It was about a week or so after I had decided to start blogging and was thinking about what focus to take, how often to blog and so forth, when I mentioned to my older daughter that I was starting a blog. Her initial reaction was the same disdainful look that she gave my husband when he told her that he was setting up a website. Any parent of a child over the age of ten knows the look: the contemptuous sneer of a person who knows absolutely everything, combined with an oh-my-god-you-are-so-embarrassing stare. Her second reaction was the witty retort, "What are you going to blog about, doing the laundry"? I told her that I had 41 years of life experience to blog about. After all, I have held some interesting jobs, travelled a bit, met some compelling people, obtained a university degree and have two children. To this she had another droll reply, "Experiencing what"?
